5 Tools Every Hypnotist Should Master

Hypnosis isn’t just about putting someone into trance. It’s about what you do once they’re there.

If you're building your skills, start with these five core tools.Master them—and every session becomes more effective.

1. Concentration Tests (a.k.a. Suggestibility Tests)

These aren’t just icebreakers.

They:

  • Show your client their mind responds

  • Build belief and expectation

  • Give you feedback on how they process

Examples:

  • Finger magnets

  • Lemon test

  • Arm levitation

  • Hand lock

Pick the right one for the client in front of you.

2. Deepening Techniques

Induction gets them into trance.Deepening keeps them there—and takes them further.

Why it matters:

  • A deeper state = more focus

  • More focus = stronger results

Use:

  • Counting down (from 10, 20, or 100)

  • Physical cues (sinking, floating)

  • Fractionation (bring them up, then deepen again)

Practice until your voice naturally shifts with each stage.

3. Reframing Language

Your words change how the subconscious sees a problem.

Instead of saying:“You’re not anxious anymore”Try:“You’ve learned to feel safe and steady, even in the past where you didn’t.”

Reframing is:

  • Subtle

  • Direct

  • Deeply personal

It takes practice—but it’s worth it.

4. Ego Strengthening

This is often skipped. Don’t skip it.

Clients may feel open and raw after releasing something.Ego strengthening helps them:

  • Feel grounded

  • Reinforce self-worth

  • Handle life with new confidence

Example lines:

  • “You’re learning to trust your own inner wisdom.”

  • “You know how to bounce back. That’s part of who you are.”

5. Future Pacing

What’s the point of change work if it doesn’t stick?

Future pacing creates a bridge between the session and real life.

Have your client imagine:

  • A situation that used to be hard

  • But now, they handle it with calm, clarity, or confidence

This installs the result into their future experience.

These 5 tools are the core of every great session. If you’re learning hypnosis, practise them until they feel natural.

Want training that shows you how to use them step by step?
